Alexander DOTY's Occupation
Alexander DOTY was a sugar cane and corn farmer. A sketch on Alexander DOTY in Southwest Louisiana Biographical and Historical states:

Alexander's Death
Alexander DOTY died at age 38 years old on 7 January 1895 in Louisa, St. Mary Parish, LA. He was buried on 8 January 1895, in St. Helen's Catholic Cemetery, in Louisa.
St. Helen's Catholic Church, for which the cemetery was named, no longer exists. The cemetery is in general disrepair. During my trip to St. Mary Parish in October 1985, Dolores DOTY HAHN (#207) and her husband Lee, brought me and my uncle, Dr. Robert E. MOORE (#213) to St. Helen's Cemetery to visit Alexander DOTY's grave. At the time the grave could be identified, however like the rest of the cemetery, Alexander's grave was in disrepair. The gravestone was loose and falling down.
In the Fall of 1986, Warren C. DOTY 0205), Clyde Lee HAHN, and Lee's son Don HAHN (#278), repaired Alexander DOTY's gravestone. Many thanks to them for making it possible for present and future generations to be able to identify and visit Alexander's grave.
Alexander DOTY did not live to see the birth of his youngest child and only daughter Grace Annette DOTY who was born on 30 April 1895, about four months after Alexander's death. His two sons, Clarence and Homer, were 4 and 2 years old when he died.
Alexander DOTY's Estate
Alexander DOTY's estate record which is six pages long, was recorded on 2 March 1895, # 2763, Franklin Courthouse, LA.
The estate contains an inventory and appraisement of Alexander's property. As listed in the excerpts on the following pages, Alexander DOTY's property was located in St. Mary Parish on the west side of Bayou Cypremort.
