First Job
Her first teaching job was as a math teacher in Oberlin, LA. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Daniel Emmet MOORE. He was called Emmet by his family and friends. Grace lived in a rooming house with Miss RICE, who was another school teacher. The rooming house was across the street from D. Emmet MOORE's parents.
Marriage
Grace Annette DOTY was married to Daniel Emmet MOORE, near Grace's aunt Elizabeth "Day" HAYDEL KEENE's house. Their marriage license was dated 7 June 1920, and was returned and recorded on 19 July 1920 in the St. Mary Parish Courthouse, Franklin, LA. The witnesses to their marriage were: Grace's mother, Annie HAYDEL DOTY; Grace's brother, Homer C. DOTY (#78); and Homer's wife Edith HEADLEY DOTY.
Grace always kept very active. In DeRidder, she was a member or the Garden Club, the Study Club and various bridge clubs. She ties a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder. Grace DOTY MOORE's Death
Grace Annette DOTY MOORE died less than two months after celebrating her 92 the birthday, in Cresthaven Nursing Home in Groves, Jefferson Co., Texas. Grace was buried next to her husband and her mother in Beauregard Parish Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
