My name is Harry Gum III and I am doing research on my mother's side of the family. I can date back to the early 1900's. My mom was a Foe and the Daughter of Kermit and Lucy Foe of Cass, WV.
My grandfather was Kermit Foe who was born in 1914 and died in 1988. He was the son of Walter and Pearl Mcclung Foe. They had 7 kids (4 girls and 3 boys), Kermit being the 4th oldest.
Walter Scott Foe was brought to West Virginia by his mother Betty who's last name is unknown. She came here in the late 1800's during the civil war.
During her journey here from Orange County Va she traveled by foot with her sister. Along the way Betty had two kids with her Walter and Byrd foe. On there way they thought they was being attacked by wolves, so Betty laid Walter down and left him behind for the animals. Shortly after she heard him screaming and went back form him.
Betty moved to Droop Mountain where she met a man by the last name of Scott.
Walter then grew up and married Pearl Mcclung. After so many years he left Pearl and went south never to be seen again.
I am very interested in finding out information concerning the Foe family and any background u can give would be thankful.
