I am in my early stages of searching for my ancestors and hope to acquire more information in time and with communication with otherrs who may be of the same family line. I was born in Charleston, West Virginia in 1942. I may have some cousins in that area today. My Father was Luther Kirby Hammock and my Mother was Helen Alice Groves.

I have used some web sites and some family history knowledge that has been proved by my parents long ago. Most of the information has come from early census records and knowing the names of the siblings of my ancestors to make a more positive cross match has been helpful.

Any assistance from anyone with further information will be greatly appreciated. I am lacking information on the McCoy side or the family. My Grandmother Martha Edna McCoy was born in Missouri to Phillip McCoy and Sarah McGraw and they later moved to Ansted, West Virginia.

I have since found census information showing that my Great Grandfather Philip McCoy and his sister were living with their maternal grandparents. More information has been found about my fathers family as well. Spencer Hammock was my paternal grandfather and his father was Booker Hammock.
