This is the family tree of Linda Ruther and Joseph Frederic Hagan.
The Maternal Roots of Linda are deep in Central New Jersey, primarily in Millstone, Jackson, and Freehold Township. The Family names are Imlay, Eldridge, Bennett, Thompson, and Parker among many others. These families have lived in central New Jersey well before the Revolutionary War: Linda's fifth great grandfather was Thomas Parker, a Revolutionary War Patriot;another great great was Patrick Imlay, a Scottish immigrant who settled in Perth Amboy in the late 1600's.
Linda's Paternal Roots are also pretty strong in New Jersey: Jersey City, Bayonne, Roselle, and Millstone Township even though her father's grandparents' and great grand parents' roots were all German. The Ruthers, Eisele's, Grapers, Hundredmarks immigrated to the United States in the mid to late 1800's. Diedrich Graper, born in Oldenburg, Germany, arrived in New York City in 1862 and then served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
Unlike Linda, whose parents and grandparents were born in New Jersey, Fred Hagan and his parents were born in Bardstown, Kentucky as was their ancestors for hundred of years before them. Their names are Hagan, Ballard, Parrent, and Hutchins among many others. Fred can trace his Irish father's line back to the 1600's and Thomas the Immigrant from Tyrone, Ireland.
This Tree is still a work in progress. Linda is attempting to obtain DAR status proving lineage to The Revolutionary War Patriot Thomas Parker whose daughter Ann Parker married David Thompson. Fred will soon be attempting to obtain SAR status proving lineage to the Revolutionary War Patriot Proctor Ballard who is buried in Pioneer Cemetery in Bardstown, KY.
Wish us luck in our endeavors!
