I am Bobby Joe Hale, the son of Robert Wade Hale and Mollie Marie Brown from Greenup Co. KY. My family is substantially from pioneers who settled Southeastern KY in the 1700's, from North Carolina and Virginia.
On my father's side, I am descended from the Lewis Hale Family of Grayson County Virginia, as well as the Dunn, Birchfield and Taulbee families of Breathitt Co. and southeatern KY, with ancesters in Wilkes and Orange Co., N.C. and previously Taulbee's and Hitchcocks of Baltimore Co., MD. My father's ancesters include Burris B. Hale, confederate soldier b.1846 from Grayson Co. VA, John Dunn b.1749, Rev. War soldier from Clarke Co., KY, Wm.R. Birchfield, civil war soldier from Breathitt Co., KY, William Hitchcock Taulbee and Samuel Taulbee, Rev. War soldiers from Baltimore Co, MD who settled in Orange Co., N.C., some of which migrated to Perry Co., KY, which became Breathitt Co, KY in 1839.
My mother's ancesters include the Brown, Hicks, Belford, Jackson, Fields, Creech and Blythe families of Eastern KY and VA, among which are Jonathon and Mary Creech, early KY pioneers, and Jim Watson, who fled execution by the English during the Irish uprising in the late 1700's. My mother's family also includes the Middleton, Fultz, Barker, and Sparks families from Elliot Co., KY, and the McGlone and Hertle families from Carter Co., KY. Owen McGlone migrated to KY from PA in 1780. Little is known about the Hertel family of Carter Co. KY, a well-kept family secret.
I have done fairly extensive research, and have documented sources for most information, including copies of wills, marriage records, Revolutionary War and Civil War records for some family members. I am interested sharing information and documentation and in working with others descended from these families.
