Research on the Harper and Thornton families of Tallapoosa CO AL has been ongoing since 1975. Material includes records on the George W. Harper and Yancy Thornton families who lived in the Reeltown, and East Tallassee areas prior to and during the Civil War. Children of George W. Harper and Sarah Ann Melissa Thornton were said to be: William Yancy Harper, b. 1857; Georgia Harper, and Sally Harper who lived with their Thornton grandparents after the Civil War. Any information on these descendants would be greatly appreciated. The records show that William Yancy Harper visited his Uncle Jeff Harper (William Jefferson Harper) in Leake CO, MS and met the daughter of Robert Goodman Ware, Lulu Emiline Ware. Later William Yancy Harper moved to Texas and raised his family in Parker and Callahan County. Records are available on most of the Harper children in this family and especially on the daughter, Minnie Lee Harper Clifford, who moved to Marysville, California with her husband, James C. Clifford. There are family connections between the parents of Martha Mills Ware, wife of Robert Goodman Ware, and the wife of William J. Harper, Emiline Partridge. Information on these Partridge connections is needed to expand the family line.
