Curtains of the Past - The Harley/Roberts Families

Updated July 5, 2001

About Our Family Research

My title was inspired by my brothers' old curtains and bedspreads with a nautical theme. One panel depicted a ship builder by the name of Francis Harley. It was the first time I realized that there were other people out there with my family name that I didn't know, and who just might be related to me.

The familes I'm researching are:
HARLEY - originally from Ireland, 1st records in Ohio circa 1840
includes BRADWAY, HURST, YARHAM, SMITH, WHITE
BEARDSLEY - From Connecticut to Michigan to Ohio
includes RYDER, DEVENDORF
WILK - came to the States from what is now Poland
WOJKOVICH(VOJKOVIC) - from Slovakia early 20th century

(I'm having trouble figuring out when/where my ancestors arrived)

I hope to be getting to my husband's families:
ROBERTS/SMOOT
BROWN/TURNER

I'm still pretty new to all this, so any questions, comments, corrections or contributions are welcome.
