About Our Family Research

I am just beginning to research our family tree. I know that my maternal grandfather's father was Nathanial Johnson and that he fought in the Civil War. He was orginially from Tennessee. His son my grandfather was Jim B. Johnson. He could have had a brother named Tom.
My maternal grandmother's name was Kate Hadley-Johnson from Eagletown, Okla. I am sure she was part indian.
I know that my adopted paternal grandfather Barney Gibbs Ward came from Stamps, Arkansas in the early 1900's to Tom, Okla.
I know that my adopted paternal grandmother was May Groves-Ward. She was born in South East Oklahoma and attended Southeastern University in Durant, Okla. in the mid-to-late teens. She became a teacher.
My paternal grandfather was a Thornton. I only know that he had a nephew or uncle named Reader Thornton who was in the military.
My paternal grandmother was named Matilda Groves Thornton, who was sister to May Groves-Ward.

I will start from the Johnson/Hadley side. If you know any of these people and can help me please email me immediately.
Thank you, harris@htcomp.net
