I am the eldest daughter of Franz Hanker who was born in Zwodau, Sudetenland on the 27th March 1924. His mother Aloisia (nee Pleil) died in 1934 when he was only 10. My father was always very regretful that he did not have a single photo of his mother. My father's family was kicked out of Sudetenland and moved to Schongau, Germany. He left Schongau in 1953 to immigrate to Australia on the M.S. Nellie. He spent a year or so in Victoria picking fruit and then moved to Mount Isa, Queensland to work for Mount Isa Mines Limited. He married my mother Wilhelmine Spaeth in 1956 and had 4 children - myself, Claudia, Franz and Lydia. Dad has lost contact with many of his relations when he left Germany, and we would love to trace back our family tree and contact any relatives as we have made searches to the German Consulat and they have told us that there is no record of a Maximillian Hanker (dad's father). We can't understand why because he was married 4 times and died in Schongau, Germany in 1986. Maximillian's father was Joseph Hanker and his wife was Magdalena. As far as we know he died in Katzengiebel, Germany in 1927. That is as far back as we know. My mother is Wilhelmine Spaeth born on the 2 January, 1932 in Munich Germany. We would also like to contact any known relatives on her side.
