I have been working about twenty years on our family tree. Before my father died, he had been contacted by a gentleman from England who had awakened his interest in his roots. When he became unable to write or speak, I told him I would take over the task. It has been rewarding many times over, and I have met family that I never would have met without this sometimes frustrating hobby. My direct line has turned out well, as my ggg grandfather, Joseph Burgars' family was well documented, and some were prominent in the Welland Ontario area. However, some of his siblings have proven to be quite elusive...which has been more than a little frustrating. Josephs' father Peter was from England but had been living in New Jersey (where all his children were born) prior to their arrival in Canada about 1797. To date I can find no records that prove this, aside from the inscription on their tombstone. Peters' wife, Ann Nelson apparently told her grandchildren that she was a cousin to Lord Nelson, but that is another story that I have been unable to prove. I cannot seem to change my email address as listed below, so will do it here. Contact me at neerodragrub@hotmail.com Thank you.
