Notes for George Edward Poss: The following is the obituary of George Edward Poss:
"In Memory of G.E. Poss: Antioch Church and community was greatly bereaved on December 11, 1929 when our beloved deacon, G. E. Poss passed away. Brother Poss was 75 years old and lived a singularly beautiful and useful life. Greatly loved and honored by a countless number of friends, he has left a rich heritage of faith, hope and love; and a priceless name to his children. He was born Nov. 1, 1854 in Oglethorp [sic] County, Georgia. Was married to Miss Eliza Wellmaker in his native state. To this union eight children were born, four of whom are living, as follows: W. B. Poss and G. Thomas Poss of Carthage, Texas; Mrs. J. F. Beckner, Clayton, New Mexico, and Mrs. Richard Miller, Port Neches, Texas. Brother Poss was converted at 18 years of age in Georgia and through all the eventful years to the end of life honored his Lord and Master faithfully. He was a member of Antioch Church for about 35 years and served as deacon most of this time. Having joined this chruch on coming from Georgia to Texas. The membership and pastor of Antioch Church ask to pay this small tribute to his memory. Done by order of church in conference."
