He married Nancy Ann Miller on Aug 20, 1960 in Port Neches, Jefferson County, TX, daughter of Eddie Lee Miller and Lorine Eula Williams.

Thomas' birth certificate states that he was born in Pattonville, TX. He was actually born in Milton, TX in the home of Morris Manly Lawler. He was named after his grandfather. Thomas entered the U.S. Army on July 18, 1858. He was a radio teletype operator. He was honorably discharged with the rank of SP-4 on July 13, 1960. Thomas died at his home while sitting in his office.

The following is his obituary as it appeared in the January 14th edition of the Port Arthur News:

PORT NECHES - Thomas R. "Tom" Harvey, 62, of Port Neches died Tuesday
at his residence. Harvey was a native of Pattonville, Texas, and was a long time resident of Port Neches. He was a retired accountant, a deacon and member of First Baptist Church of Port Neches. He was a graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Port Neches with the Rev. David Mahfouz and the Rev. Doug
Young officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under direction of Pat A. Riley Funeral Home of Nederland. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pat A. Riley Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Miller Harvey of Port Neches; a son, Ron A. Harvey of Port Neches; a daughter Rayna Headrick of Pasadena, Texas; a sister Ann Lee of Milton, Texas; a brother, Jerry M. Harvey of Plano; and four grandchildren. The family requests that donations be made to Port Neches First Baptist Church.

Thomas and Nancy's first date was Nancy's senior prom (1958) at Port Neches-Groves High School. Thomas and Nancy were engaged in the fall of that year. Thomas was in the Army and in December of 1958 was sent overseas for duty. He returned to the States in July of 1960. The couple wasted no time and were married the following month. Nancy had the wedding completely planned when Thomas arrived from overseas. The wedding ceremony was held at the First Baptist Church in Port Neches with Rev. J.Q. Woodard officiating.

Their first home was a rent house on Dallas Street in Port Neches. The house was owned by C.B. Lindsey, Sr. After their son Ron was born they moved to another rent house next door to Bill and Zelma Poss. It was located on 12th ? street in Nederland (the first street off of Twin City Highway). The Poss's used to live in that house but had built a place next door to it and were renting out their old place. On May 30, 1961 they moved into a house at 505 Combs Drive in Port Neches. They lived there until 1974 when they moved to 2620 Staton Lane.
