Richard Whitaker (b. Mar 16, 1782, d. Sep 05, 1844)

Richard Whitaker (son of Hudson Whitaker and Susannah Thomas) was born Mar 16, 1782 in Halifax County, NC, and died Sep 05, 1844 in Gordon, Wilkinson County, GA. He married Frances Pace on Nov 02, 1808, daughter of Nathaniel Pace and Amelia Mildred Boykin.

Notes for Richard Whitaker:
He was a trustee of the first school built, called the Wilkinson
County Academy. Richard was a member of the Old Friendship Primitive
Baptist Church. Their doctrine was narrow, opposing foreign missions
and Sunday schools. He was tried for being unorthodox, being in favor
of a Missionary Baptist Church which was later established. He was
forgiven and remained a member of the Primitive Baptist Church until
his death.
