Marriage Notes for Dorris Madge Lawler and Raymond Harvey: Raymond Harvey and his family lived in Pattonville. He travelled to Port Arthur, TX and found a job as an assistant operator at the Gulf Oil Refinery in Port Arthur. He found a house in Port Acres and made preparations for his family to move in. A short time later his wife Dorris and their two children Thomas and Ann, joined him in Port Acres. They were transported in a Model A Ford by Clyde Harvey and Oral Terry. Clyde was one of Raymond's brothers. Oral was a friend of Clyde. At the time, Thomas was in the first grade at the school he attended in Milton. He recalls that in Milton, grades one through seven met in one classroom. There were seven rows of desks and each grade occupied one row. There was only one person in the seventh grade, a boy.
Sometime later Raymond and his family moved to a house on Ray Avenue. Their house was across the street from present-day Stephen F. Austin High School in Port Acres. They later moved to a house on the corner of West Port Arthur Road and 61st (or 62nd) Street. Their next move was to a garage apartment in Port Neches. It was located on Jackson Avenue across from Llano Street. They later moved to 801 Llano Street.
