THE HASTIE FAMILY of MANCHESTER UK Updated March 9, 2002
About Our Family Research
The Hastie family, now centered around Worsley in Greater Manchester, is decended from Hawick and Bo'ness in the Border area of Scotland. Whilst in Manchester, Ian Hastie, the author of this document, married into the Lawrence family whilst his father married into the Stronach family. Both these two families are being researched alongside the Hastie family tree.
I am unaware of any other research into the Hastie family tree but if there is any, I would dearly love to be in contact with the researcher or whoever holds the documentation. The Hasties go back to Scotland within one generation and include my grandfather, (Archibald Hendersson Hastie) who had three girl ans three boy children, my father being one of them.
Linking into any research done on the Stronach family would be helpful as I am experiencing great difficulty finding from whence they came to Eccles. My grandfather (Arthur Stronach) was born in the Manchester area. He had two sisters (Christina and Elizabeth Jane) neither of whom married. He died in 1933. His father was a James Hastie but where did he and his wife come from?
Now I am also looking into the Lawrence family which starts with my wife (Rita) and goes back through her father (William) who was one of ten children.
I suffered a stroke back in 1995 and am now registered as disabled. This restricts my ability to travel and obtain the required data from Parish Records and the like. I am trying to do my research on the Internet. Can you help?
If you feel you might have information or pictures that are relevant to this research then please contact me.
Being researched: HASTIE, STRONACH and LAWRENCE family trees.
