My family and research starts in Pennsylvania with Johann "Peter" Heckman who came to America on the ship Judith in 1748 and settled in Pennsylvania. He and his wife Elizabeth Margaretha (last name unknown) I believe had 11 or 12 children, John Jacob,Hannah,rebecca,John,Andreas(Andrew),Ana Maria,Joseph,David,Salome,Diederich,Elizabeth Margaretha,and John "Peter", which is the line I come off of.
John "Peter" Heckman was born in Pennsylvania September 13, 1754 and married Salome Reinhardt(Reinhart)and I believe had seven children, Elizabeth,Jacob,John,Peter Jr.,Salome, Frederick,and George (who my line continues from).
George Heckman was born in Pennsylvania (1791-1795)and married Catharine Stam in 1827. They had 6 to 7 children, Joseph,Ann A.,John,Charles,F.J,Albert and David "Porter". David Porter is what the 1850 Pennsylvania census has him listed at, but I have found that his real name was Daniel Porter since this is the line I continue off of. George and Catharine loaded their children in a covered wagon and migrated to Indiana in 1853 and settled in Pike township of Marion county near New Augusta.
Daniel "Porter" (whom I continue off of) married Martha Sheets and I believe had 11 children, Nelson,Charles,Julie,Mary,Ollie,Effie,Harry W.,Elmer,Cora, Charlie and John A.(whom my line still contune from).
John A. was born July 24, 1872 and married Emma Bernauer on July 28, 1895. John and Emma had three children Marguerite, Fred B., and Clarence (whom my line still continues from).
Clarence was born in Indianapolis on July 26, 1905 and married first Thelma Bundy and then Hazel Siegmund, Clarence and Thelma had 3 children, Robert L., James A., and William K. Sr.,(Whom my line continues from).
William K. Sr. married Betty Viola Koonce and had five boys, William Jr, Larry T., Russell A. (which is me) Michael L., and James R.
All of the 5 Heckman boys are still living and 4 of the 5 have families of their own and have children and grandchildren.
