This is dedicated to the history of the Heddlesten family. Our branch of the family have very deep feelings concerning our heritage and are devoted to the idea that it will not be lost or forgotten. Our parents, James B. Heddlesten and Lois M. (Stickley) Heddlesten are from Oklahoma as am I, Mom from Fort Supply and Dad from Haileyville, and I was born in Shattuck, while my four brothers are from Yakima, in trhe state of Washington, which we all call home at this point. We are a military family, all five of us were in the U. S. Navy, and four of us stayed until retirement. We have a total of over 96 years of service between us. I have found that the Heddlesten family has been represented in every major conflict since the American Civil War. Our research has shone that we are decended from Warriors from the South of Scotland, specifically the Dumphries-Galloway region. Our ancestors came to the United States by way of Ireland in the late 18th century. We have found that the family has had its share of both noble citizens and skalliwags.
