As of August 2000, very little was known about these families. My mother, Cora, told me, her mother died when she was two years old in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her father was Frederick George Dodson, and here mother's name was Mary, who was called "Mollie". We do not know what happened to her father! My mother had a sister Bertha May. My mother said she was born April 27, 1893 in Indianapolis Indiana and her sister Bertha was born , July 29, 1900 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Birth certificates were not available for either sister.
When I found The marriage record of Frederick and Mary Hill married July 19, 1891 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Then I found the birth record of a girl born to them April 27, 1893.
I also had a book written by William H. Mace and Ida Dodson on the Mace/Dodson Family History, which states Frederick Dodson had been married three times, all wives had died at an early age. The only chrildren were born to the second marriage. My mother told me there was another child, William who died in infancy. My mission is to solve the mystery as to where and to whom was Bertha born. Who was her mother and grandparents? Her mother was Mary Hill born about 1866 to William Hill and Sarah Ellen Hand in Marion County, Indiana. What happened to her father? Bertha also has decendants that I wanted to give a fmily history.
Also wanted to find the paternal side, the Bemis family, of which there was not any information! Charles Albert Bemis born Oneonta, New York, July 31, 1872 son of Daniel or John Bemis and Eunice Sigsbee born about 1852.( These brothers were born to George A. Bemis born about 1830 and Jane??? ).
