My grandfather, Julius Fernandez, was born in the village of Aviles, in the provence of Asturias, Spain in 1893 (I believe). His father was named Ramon. My grandfather, a/k/a Sapo, had siblings named Ramon, Manuel, Josephine, and Telba. When Julio was 13 he left Spain for Cuba; when he was 17, he came to the U.S. He met and married Jessie Miller (Mueller), a German woman who leanred Spanish and later became a translator during WWII. Jessie had sisters by the names of Sarah (Honeybee), Dell, Pearl, and one brother named Arthur. They lived in southern Illinois and Missouri. Julio and Jessie had the following children who lived past birth: Beatrice, Jack (hit by a car and died at the age of 11), Richard (my father), Julius (Jimmy), and Dorothy. My father, Richard, is 83 years of age and has cousins or similar age in the St. Louis, Missouri, area. I would love to hear from anyone who believes they are of the same family tree.
