My first known forefathers and mothers are named in GROBINA/Courland/Latvia. In 1712 Christina Steencke was born. She was married with Julius Wilhelm Hellmann. He died at 1768 in Grobin . That is all what we know about him. But there exists a family saga: At that times a svedish officer had to escape from Sveden to Balticum because he did something very bad. He was dammed to death in Sveden. What it was, was a family secret and in 1850 Ernst Theodor August Hellmann, Oberpastor at the Riga Dome took this secret into his grave. At that time, perhaps at 1845, a person from Sveden came to Riga to try to addopt a Hellmann boy, because the svedish Hellmann Family only had girls. From this family we also know nothing! Nobody of Ernst Theodor August Hellmann s sons were interested to move to Sveden, except his daughter Jeanette. But the svedish Hellmanns were not interessted because she was a Girl. This told me my grandfather Ernst H. and his sister Martha when I was a boy in the 1960ies. Jeanette was their grand aunt. Heinrich Hellmann
