The Hoffman/Carpenter Families of Dane County, Wisconsin

Updated April 19, 2004

About Our Family Research

The Hoffman's and Carpenter's have been in Dane County over 150 years. The branches intertwine with many of the other large Dane County families from 150 years ago, like the Statz, Wermuth, Diebold, Sachs, Eichman, Esser, Hornung, and Keller families, just to name a few!

The mystery that started the whole search is one involving the Hoffman brothers who started the family history in Dane County. According to my Dad, he had three great-uncles, who came to this country with their brother, my link, Phillip George Hoffman. The brothers were Johannes, William, and Henry. Much of the information my Dad gave me, before I began documention, has been confirmed by the research. I have not yet been able to document irrefuteably, that the four were brothers, even though the information my dad gave me indicates this.

The search is still on. I have many unanswered questions, in my quest to trace my family. Every time I turn a corner, there seems to be another mystery. Information is always appreciated. Perhaps you will be the one to make the final link!
