My function is to collect available information from representatives of the eight families,including my own branch,that are known to be descended from Elias Helyar and Martha Helyar (nee Doling).
Their only surviving son George Helyar,who married Charlotte Ann Hockey 19-7-1855 in Melbourne,was the progenator of a large family of 15 that grew,through eight families,to about 574 people related either by blood or marriage.
The files are paternal in nature,so there would be a huge blowout in numbers if I tried to connect the relatives of the wives as well.That would add thousands more and the subsequent confusion would be vast.

Addendum 2008.
The file has grown to include the descendants of not only George Helyar, but also those of his sisters. The work is now complete to the maintenance stage and I can offer a book bound and printed duplex with photographs included. There are
over 200 pages plus 50 photographs and more that 1000 names. The stories and diaries make good reading. This is living Australian history.The price is reasonable for the years of work involved and the costs of production.
