I have researched my fathers side Herington back to approximately 1806 when my great great granfather was born. I have traced my fathers mothers family back to 1530 with the name of Hecker. I have traced my mothers fathers side back to 1849 when her grandfather was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have followed my mothers grandparents on her mothers side back to when they entered the United States from Germany in 1886 and settled in Sterling Illinois. I have found one of my uncles who had disappeared forty years ago to Scocial Security records and determined that he had died in 1986 in Dallas, Texas. I also traced my wifes fathers family named Shaw back to approximatly 1793 to a Samuel Shaw from New Hampshire. I have found records on my wifes mothers grandparents who emigrated from Sweden in the mid 1800's to Swedona, Illinois. I have not been able to find concrete evidence on my great great father Herington, since the early census spelled his name Harrington. I did trace him and his family to Iowa and he appeared in the 1880 census in Iowa living with his oldest son John, whose grave I found in Jones County Iowa. However I found no evidence of my great great father death or where he was buried. I never found what my great great grandmother's name was who was married to Jacob Harrington (Herington). I found evidence about my great grandfather Henry Daniel Herington service in the Civil Service enlisting in Iowa and serving in Arkansas. His name was spelled Herrington in those records.
