Since 1977 have compiled family history. Initial reference materials of Charles Fisher in Selinsgrove, PA prompted further inquiry until I gathered sufficient data and published it in "The Herrolds" in 1992, which is offered for sale at $20 + handling and shipping. The book attempts to cover the French Heraults generally from ennoblement during the Hundred Years War until the 16th century, then the movement to Protestant Wurttemburg as Hoerolds, then in 1743 to Pennsylvania - Lancaster, Berks, Westmoreland and Indiana Counties where they became known as Harrolds, also in Snyder County, where they were Herrolds. Movement to Athen County, OH followed in the second decade of the 19th century (where spelling of Harrold changed to Herrold) -- to LaPorte County, IN in the fourth decade, to Pocahantas County, IA in the 1870s-1880s, then the Oklahoma land rushes on and after 1889, where the progeny of Hiram and Sarah Anne (Leverich) Herrold (1850-1937) remain. The only consistent Herrold family reunions I'm aware of occur on the last Sunday of July each year in and around Selinsgrove, Snyder Co., PA.
