We are currently researching Oscar F. Gladding's descendants in Michigan and his ancestors that led him to Michigan. Currently, we are concerned with his parents' names and grandparents'names to link to the "Gladding" Book that chronicles the Gladdings from the first in America to the 1800's.
Since Oscar was born in a place and time where records were scarce, we may never truly document his ancestry, but we can come close! He was born in Washington Co. NY and emigrated to Michigan with a group from that area, which may have included his grandparents, as well as his future bride. He married Charlotte H. Comstock in 1845 in Eaton Co. MI, and started his family. He resided in Eaton, Ionia, and Montcalm counties in Michigan, but died in Arkansas seeking medical relief from injuries recieved in the Civil War.
