Greetings, my branch of the Hertzler Family tree settled in Alcona County, after leaving Smithville, Ohio in the early early nineteen hundreds. My dad was just a kid then, one of many kids from his own huge family. They settled in the area of Glennie Michigan. A huge farm, a general store, and a work shop. I was told Grandfather Samuel had a post office as well. And I later learned it was simple a central place to pick up mail...like what we might call MailBoxesEtc.... My Dad had one brother, Walter. And several sisters. Alice, Dora, Jewel, and others as well. I never knew my grandfather, as he died shortly after I was born. If not just before. I did come to know his second wife Margaret. She lived in a small cottage in Harrisville, Michigan. We used to visit her and she would make egg custard pie for us. It was a small place, in a large field near the railroad tracks. I have one sister Jean Louise Hertzler, and a brother Richard Griffith Hertzler. In turn they have children and grandchildren. Mom and Dad arent living any longer. Their cemetary markers are in East Tawas, Michigan. Where my dad was a lawyer, and mom taught art and piano to the locals. The Hertzlers belong to a family tree that has a book, The Hertzler Hartzler Family Tree. There have been revisions and may even have another edition new in print. This Hertzler lives in Carpinteria, California. I moved out this way once I found out that there were other areas of the country that did not experience the season of the year, called winter and snowfall.
