As of today 5/21/00 I am just beginning my research regarding my ancestry. My maternal grandparents are David Lerma and Mary (Maria) Ybarra. My paternal grandparents are Pedro Hernandez and Asuncion Marin.
The greatest mystery involves my grandfather who,as the story is told was abandoned as a child and took the name of the family who raised him, the Hernandez family. Details regarding his birth origin are unavailable.
All of my immediate family members lived most of their adult lives in San Diego. All of my grandparents (with the exception of my maternal grandfather I believe) were born in Mexico.
I was able to locate the birth certificate records for all grandparents online with the exception of David Lerma (maternal grandfather)the grandparent who was a fisherman and American born.
If you have any suggestions as to where to go from here, please contact me. For now I will head for the library and find resources as to how to proceed.
