John S. Drew was born in London, England 18 Apr 1799 and was married there to Sarah Pape 18 Jan 1825 (1828?). Two children were born to them there: Sarah, who died in infancy and George John. In 1832 the family immigrated to New England in 1832 and lived in New York City, New York; Boston, Massachusetts; and Kingston, Canada. Seven more children were born to them in these parts, one died in infancy. The remaining six: William Young, Josiah Richard, Elizabeth M., Naomi S., Charles Pape, and Joseph Samuel. The family then emmigrated to Council City (later named Burlingame), Kansas in 1855 and were well known pioneers in that state. The Drews were Baptists. George, William, Josiah and Charles all served in the ranks of the Union Army during the War of the Rebellion. John died 1 Oct 1897 and Sarah before him in July of 1874. George died in Washington, D.C. in 1905; William died in Huntington Beach, CA in 1904; Josiah died in Uncompahgre, CO in 1903; Elizabeth died in Burlingame, KS in 1908; Naomi died in Burlingame, KS at age 16 in 1858; Charles died in West Palm Beach, FL in 1916; and Joseph died in Phoenix, AZ in 1915.
