Taylorsville, July 13. -- Mr. N. A. Campbell died Tuesday morning at 4:30 o'clock at his late residence in Sugar Loaf township after an illness of non weeks from heart disease.
The funeral service was conducted Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. Lloyd Barnes from Bethel Baptist church, of which the deceased had been a member since early life. Interment was in the Bethel cemetery.
Noah Alfred Campbell, a son of [Squire] Bentley Campbell and Mrs. Bashie Queen Campbell [nee Vashti Cas Queen] was born September 16, 1844, and would have been 88 years of age had he lived until his next birthday anniversary. He was married in 1869 to Miss Elizabeth Cambell, of Alexander county [sic].
Surviving relatives are his widow, three sons Messrs. Winslow Campbell, Elzie Campbell, and I. C. [Illa Cornelius] Campbell, one daughter, Mrs. Stevens Baity, all of this county; two brothers, Messrs. Joseph Campbell and Garner Campbell, of this county; one sister, Miss Rinda Campbell, of Wilkes county; twenty-four grandchildren and Forty-four great grandchildren.

To any Ordained Minister of any Religious Denomination or any Justice of the Peace of said County:
Franklin Campbell having applied to me for a LICENSE for the marriage of Elton Campbell of Alexander County, aged 19 years, color white the son of father not known and Clarinda Campbell the father now dead, the mother living resident of Alexander County aged 13 years, color white, daughter of A.N. Campbell and Elizabeth Campbell the father living, the mother living resident of Alexander County.
And the written consent of N.A. Campbell the father of the said Lillie V. Campbell to the proposed marriage having been filed with me.
And there being no legal impediment to such marriage known to me, you are hereby authorized, at any time within one year from the date hereof, to celebrate the proposed marriage at any place within the said county.
You are required, within two months after you shall have celebrated such marriage, to return this License to me at my office with your signature subscribed to the certificate under this License, and with the blanks therein filled according to the facts, under penalty of forfeiting two hundred dollars to the use of any person who shall sue for the same.

Transcribers notes:
Rufus Elton Campbell was the son of Nancy Clarinda Campbell and "father unknown" born in 1869 in Alexander County NC. He was raised by his grandparents Squire Bentley Campbell and Vashti Cas Queen Campbell. Elton was 19 when he married.
Lillie V. Campbell was the daughter of Noah Alford Campbell and Annie Elizabeth Campbell. Noah was a the brother of Nancy Clarinda Campbell and son of Squire Bentley Campbell and Vashti Cas Queen. Elton and Lillie were 1st cousins. Lillie was 13 when they were married.
Their first child Elizabeth "Dollie" Campbell was born on 24 March 1890. Lillie was then about 12 1/2 years old when she became pregnant and she and Elton were not married until after Dollie was born.
This is not brought up here to cast dispersions on any of these people but to include the analysis for the purpose of understanding.
