From there He came to the Colony of North Carolina in 1753. Settling near Asheboro, North Carolina, the section now known as Randolph County. He was of Lutheran faith, having brought the Dutch Bible in the family printed in 1643 and yet in the possation of the Kivetts. He was among the first settlers. The name was first spelled CUYVETTE and afterwards spelled Kivett. The records in the public Library at Greensboro, North Carolina, disclosed that the first federal census was taken in North Carolina in1790. At that time, according to the census, there were three Kivetts listed as householders in North Carolina,- namely, Peter, Peter jr., and Henry. Peter Kivett was credited with three males, one female, and two slaves. Peter, Jr had one male over sixteen years of age, two males under sixteen and two females . Henry had one male over sixteen, four males under sixteen and one female. In the library records the name of Kivett frequently appears among those who assisted in the early development of Randolph County.
