The Hicks' and Bishop's from Birmingham, England and back

The 12th of November 1999 is my 37th Birthday and the day I have decided to research and record my family's history for posterity. My Father, Francis John Hicks and my Mother, Dorothy May Bishop have instilled in me the values and virtues of a good family and my memories of the warmth and love I received from my grandparents inspires me to discover what I can of the generations before who inspired them. To date I know of my great Grandfather on my Mothers side, Samuel James Gallier and great Grandfather on my fathers side, Henry Hicks both born about the 1880's and most probably from the Midlands. I am a complete novice to the world of Geneology and would sincerely appreciate any help my fellow web watchers can provide.
