I am just beginning my family search, all this is very new to me. My family never had reunions and my parents were not close to their family. My father was Thomas Marvin Hiers, he lived in Jacksonville, Fla., where he died at the age of 55 in 1980. My mother was Lucy Lugenia (Hunter) Hiers. She also lived in Jacksonville, Fla., where she died at the age of 62 in 1987.
Grandparents, on my fathers side, were Riley and Susie (Alderman) Hiers, they lived in Pavo, Georgia. They were farmers. I think my grandfather died in 1988. My grandmother died sometime later, I'm not sure of the date. Their other children were; Beryle (Hiers) Griffin, Hazel (Hiers) Lawrence-deceased, Gene Hiers of Pavo, Georgia, and of course my father Thomas Marvin Hiers.
Grandmother, on my mothers side, was Vera Hunter Brown. She lived in Fernandina Beach, Fla. when she died in late 1970's. I'm not sure of my grandfather's first name,it may have been Raymond or Henry, he was always Grandaddy Hunter to me. He lived in Ocala, Fla. where he died, I believe, in the 60's. Their children were; Robert Henry Hunter-deceased, Gladys (Hunter) Rogers of Tampa, Fla., and Lucy Lugenia Hunter Hiers my mother. They did have a half brother named Raymond Hunter who lived in Ocala, Fla. I'm not sure if he is still living.
I hope I am successful with this search, I certainly don't have much to go on.
