Alexander Munro of Ardulli and his five brothers were known as "Sliochd Alasdair mhic Huistain." Alexander was banner bearer of his chief, Robert Munro of Fowlis at the battle of Pinkie in 1547. Robert Munro and his son, George, were killed in that battle.

"Alexander Munro of Kiltearn married a daughter of Ferquhar McLean of Davochgerrie by whom he had Mr Donald Hugh Alexr. of Ardulli John of Kiltearn Ferquhar of Teanard William of Culcraigie all considerable families flourishing in several Branches."

"...sons of Alexander son of Hugh Donald, Hugh, Alexander, John, Farquhar, William. This group were known as Sliochd Alasdair mhic Huistain."

"The Coul Munro MS. states that Angus Macdonald, VII. of Glengarry, "deponed the patronage of the Chaplainory of Obsdale to Robert Munro, the Laird of Fowlis in the year 1546." It also says that the "said Robert granted a feu charter of the lands of Ardulzie to Alexander Munro in 1547." This Alexander of Ardullie was descended from Hugh Munro, I. of Coul, as will be seen in the account of that fmaily later on."

Alexander is said to have served as "Banner-bearer" to Robert Munro, fifteenth Baron of Fowlis, at the battle of Pinkie, in 1547.
