Hugh Munro (son of Alexander Munro and Janet Cumming) was born Abt. 1635, and died 1698 in Of, Durness, Scotland.

Hugh studied philosophy at the University of Aberdeen for a year. On 22 Dec 1653, he was admitted to the Gaelic bursary by the Presbytery of Dingwall. He received his M.A. degree in 1657.
On 20 Jan 1663, Hugh succeeded his father as minister of Durness, having been appointed by the Presbytery of Caithness.
He died in 1698, after 36 years of service in Durness.
