Jane Ann Wilson was born 17 August 1840 in Nauvoo, Hancock Co., Illinois to Whitford Gill and Mary Sheehand Wilson, she was the 9th child of 11. She crossed the plains with her parents by ox team in 1853, fter her arrival,she lived a short time in Salt Lake City and then in Riverdale, Utah. She married David Hess 21 March 1858 in Farmington, Davis, Utah; they were later sealed in the endowment house 9 Dec 1865. She and David made their home in Farmington, Davis, Utah. With the exception of about eleven years she has always resided in Farmington. During those eleven years she lived in Georgetown, Bear Lake, Idaho. She was the mother of nine children. She was said to be a womanof much courage and hope, usually in sickness. She was naturally inclined to the skillful use of herbs and medicine. She took great pride in helping her neighbors and friends when they or their children were ill. She was said to be agreat benefactor in her life, almost cutting short her own life in trying to administer to the wants of others. While her husband, David was away in Georgetown, she became sick. She was sick for 21 day; she died 24 October 1895 in Farmington, Davis, Utah from bronchitis. At the time of her death seven of her nine children were living and she was a grandmother of twenty-two. Funeral services took place at the meetinghouse Sunday, 27 October 1895. Buried in the Farmington Cemetery.
