Harvey Henson Hines (son of John Henry Hines and Louisiana Virginia Carter) was born November 04, 1890 in Carter, Pontatoc, Indian Territory, and died January 31, 1977 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He married Vertie Bell Champion on January 14, 1912 in near Maud, Oklahoma.

Includes NotesNotes for Harvey Henson Hines:
According to Thelma Hines, the land surrounding the Hines Homestead (the "Red Hill") was sold to oil companies for a considerable amount of money, and each of the Hines children got a portion of that money. According to Lloyd Hines' daughter, Barbara, a $15,000 deposit showed up in her grandfather's (Oscar Hines) bank account about the time of the sale. I never new my grandfather to have a "job", perhaps that is why. Harvey Henson Hines lived in what became Pottawatomie County for all of his life except for the 6 years he lived near Norman. After marrying Vertie Bell Champion in 1912, they lived on a farm near St. Louis, Oklahoma. They moved to Shawnee in 1929 and lived on Jefferson Place. He was a partner in the Hines-Gentry Motor Company and Olds mobile Agency in 1940-42. Sylvia Hines said they bought their interest in the company with a $1,000 gift from Vertie's father. He and his two sons Noel and Don purchased Herb Gentry's portion of the business and building and ran the Hines Motor Company selling Jeeps and Minneapolis Moline tractors. They moved to a farm near the Hines Homestead in Asher in the early 1950's. I remember spending summers there and spending time with my cousins Ted, Barbara, Mike, Suzie, and Deanna. From there they moved to a farm in Tecumseh and stayed there a few years then moved to a farm in Bethel. From Bethel they moved back to Shawnee. They lived in two houses on Independence street. At the time of his death, Harvey lived at 1202 E. Independence. He died only a few days before his grand daughter Kimberly was born. He died of a stroke.
