Notes for William Richard Hines: According to a newspaper release given to me by Myrna Dixon-St. George, W.R. Hines lived in Hemphill county Texas since 1907. He had suffered with a heart ailment for the past few years and had had several heart attacks. On Oct. 9, 1955 he died of a heart attack. Relatives in Shawnee, Oklahoma planned to drive to Canadian the next day. They called W.R.'s brother, Oscar, and told him they would be by to pick him up in about fifteen minutes. When they arrived at Oscar's house, they found him dead of a heart attack also. Heart attacks had taken both brothers in less than twenty-four hours.
According to his obituary, William Richard Hines was born in Leon County, Texas on April 4, 1881. He was married to Miss Bertha Elizabeth Curnutt on January 30, 1904, at Romulas, Oklahoma. They moved to Canadian in 1907 and farmed in Washita community. Mr. Hines was a faithful member of the First Methodist church. At the time of his death he was still engaged in farming and ranching at his place seven miles this side of Miami, Texas.
