Oscar James Hines (son of John Henry Hines and Louisiana Virginia Carter) was born September 24, 1883 in Near Ardmore, Oklahoma, and died October 10, 1955 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He married Mae Hughbanks on December 15, 1906 in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma.
Notes for Oscar James Hines: Thelma Hines said Oscar did not want to be called grandpa or grandfather, but preferred to be called papa. She said he was a very nice person. She also said that the land Oscar and his brothers and sisters inherited was sold to oil companies for a considerable amount of money. Oscar and his wife Mae moved to Shawnee after getting their share of money from the sale of the farm land surrounding the "red hill".
