Includes NotesNotes for Stella Beatrus Hines:
According to Jimmie Yeats, Stella Beatrus Hines was born in the community by the name of Wilson, seven mile southeast of Ardmore. At the age of 7 she came to Pottawatomie County from Carter County with her parents where they settled near Pearson and a short time later moved to near Maud. She first started to school in Pott. County going to a one room school by the name of Colverdale, located near Oak Grove. In 1910, the year of her marriage she and her new husband moved into the town of Asher. They lived there for several years and were thought to have later moved to St. Louis about 1920. In 1923, they moved to Hughes County, in Oklahoma in a Model-T Ford. They settled near the town of Dustin and a few years later bought a ranch. They built their home in 1929 and worked and lived there for another 30 years. She adhered to the Democratic party unlike her husband who was a staunch Republican. They both belonged to the Baptist Church. A branch called the "Primitive Baptist". They attended annual week long sessions held at various homes of members of the church. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday August 28, 1960 at their home place. Attending were their children and grandchildren, which numbered 18 at the time. Also attending were many friends and neighbors.

The following is a story that Jimmie Yeats said was written by his grandmother, Stella beatrus Hines shortly after they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, August 28, 1960: On August 28, 1910, V.A. called for me about 8:30 A.M. for us to get married. Well, I wasn't ready, he had to wait on me, so he's been waiting on me ever since. Anyway, I got dressed and ready to go. We got in the buggy and started out. I believe the buggy was pulled by two mules, on mule was a little larger than the other, and the larger on had an "inguloned" foot which gave him a slight limp. But we were happy. We drove to a Church of Christ Minister's country home, and were married before about a dozen people. I shook like a leaf. So after the ceremony we drove around the rest of the morning coming back to my parents home where mama had a bountiful dinner. She was a wonderful cook. In the afternoon we attended a funeral of two little girls age 10 and 12 who drowned while wading in a creek. Monday morning we drove to a little town by the name of Asher, Oklahoma where V.A's father lived, there we rented a two room house, bought some new and used furniture and set up house keeping. Starting our life's struggle together, but a happy life, isn't all roses, we have to have a few thorns and a little bitter with the sweet to be made to appreciate the good things of life. We reared five children of which we are very proud of and love very much. They are all married and gone from home. After 50 years we are still struggling together and happy!

Thank You.
