My name is Keith Allen Hiott Sr.(B.4/16/52)Born in Bamberg SC.My father was Floyd Hiott B.1928, His father (Murk)Floyd Melton Hiott B.1899 Colleton County.His father Richard Ransom Hiott B.1857,His father Samuel Capers Hiott b.1828 {Richard and Samuel are both buried at Doctors Creek Cemetery, just outside Walterboro.Of interest is the wife of Richard Ransom Hiott.It appears this is the Indian connection I had been searching for.Della Utsey being her name.Lived with the brother of Floyd Melton Hiott his name was Ashly Hiott, after the death of Richard Ransom Hiott, she lived there in Bamberg,is remembered well by the children of Ashly and Marie Hiott.She was said to be of the Cherokee people.Though many of the Creek nation at that time had been told to claim Cherokee as there heritage.The reason being that only Christian Cherokee were allowed to remain in SC when others were forced to Oklahoma on the "Trail of Tears".So many even if they could pass for it became white with a story of being in the sun alot working, making them so dark.Even today they hide in fear.That that genocide may return.
