Includes NotesNotes for Lornts Benjaminson Hofstad:
On May 28, 1905, we left our old home. It was hard to leave my old, blind mother. I was the last of six siblings who now departed for America to try his luck there. We went by railroad from Vaerdalsora to Trondheim, where we visited with and said good-bye to relatives and other friends. Then we went onward by train to Chrestiania{Oslo} where my cousin Congressman Andreas Oksvold, Steinkjer, met us and gave us help and directions. We embarked on a small steamship HELLIG OLAV and landed in New York City June 98, 1905.
