The Hohmann family is now reduced to writing. With the able hand of Richard Helmer, the family history has been captured. This year, 1999, we met in Chicago, IL for a Hohmann/Mulligan reunion and in two years we will meet in San Francisco. We have determined that the family of Adam Hohmann (1738-1799) from Waldgrehweiler Rheinland-Pflaz area of Germany, m.Elizabetha? unknown, child Maria Catharinia Hohmann (d. 1828) who bore Johann Conrad Hohmann(1801-1858)m. Catharina Ammann(1828-1882) Reiffelbach. Came to the US on SPLENDID,3/31/1852. The family resided for a short period of time in Rochester, NY and then moved to Fernwood, IL,1859,(S. Chicago). The house was on Union Street and has been torn down. A famous sculptor, CHarles James Mulligan, Civil War, Lincoln, and other famous citizens were his subjects. My Great Grandfather, James Charles Mulligan, later blind, wrote poetry. Joeseph Hohmann, son of Jacob, married Maria Mulligan, daughter of JC Mulligan. The 13 member family included 12 boys and one girl, one was my Father, Walter Cottingham Hohmann. I am Walter Neil, my wife is Katherine Guilbeau Hohmann, and two sons, Neil Martin and Mark Christopher and one daughter, Claire Emily, complete the Annaopolis Hohmanns.
