Many Threads - One Rope

Updated March 11, 2001

About Our Family Research

I call this page "Many Threads - One Rope," because I've located information about ancestors going back in some cases four or five centuries. Some led very interesting lives. Each of those unique lives is a thread in the rope of our family.

So, without engaging in ancestor worship, I hope to respect and celebrate them and their journeys, and I am grateful to each and every one of them for their courage, their adventures, and their lives.

I have as a goal recording as far back as the immigrant generation on all lines. This goal is only partially met and in some cases may not be possible.

Family surnames are as follows:

Baker, allied surnames are Lowry, Overstreet, and Curtis in TN, KY and NC; and McGarrah, Ross, Echols, Croxton on GA and SC.

Hood, allied surnames are Puckett, Goodrum, Monteith, Black, Alexander, Davidson, Wilson, Winslow, McKnitt (McKnight), Wallace, and possibly Beverley in NC, FL, AL, MD and VA; Barnett, Rhoades, and Wiltse (other names associated with this family as well, but the list gets rather long!) in NY and FL.

Queries are welcome. I will be happy to help in any way I can, and more than happy to connect with cousins!
