Notes for Esther Linnie Hoover: A letter from Esther: Dear Donna, You were wondering about how Bob happened to be born in Kansas, So I'll write how my folks moved about. Kenneth and I were born in Ind., Hartford City. When I was 2 yrs old they moved to Eldorado, Kansas as Roy told Dad the work was good there. My grandmother was living out there with Roy part of the time. Wilbur was born in Eldorado and I started school there. When I was starting 2nd grade, Kenneth in 1st, we moved to a small town of Burns Kansas there Ethel was born. Dad was a barber seems most of the Hoovers were. Ethel was about 1yr old and they moved to Elbing Kansas. Dad had his own shop there as for me that was the best time of my life. Dad had a good income in this small town, all farm people. I don't think it even exists anymore, but I loved it there. Babies were always born at home in those days and Mom had some problems with Bob's delivery. He came out feet first and doctor had not arrived as he had to come at least 12 miles and it was a bad rainy night, so Dad had to deliver him. Guess she was torn up a bit so they hired a girl named Vevia to help out which turned out to be like an older sister to me as she sorta made her home there. Working for others and returning to our house. Was kind of fun to have her for me. When I was ready for 6th grade they decided to move back to Eldorado, I guess business was failing so he went back to the shop he worked in before. I wont go into all the rest, but we moved back to Ind when I was about a freshman, 1st in New Castle then to Shirley where Clarence was born and the year I graduated he got his shop in Anderson and moved there. I was going with Cleo and times were rather rough in 32 so we got married taht year and moved on a farm which I enjoyed but kind of lonesome at first.
