Notes for Eliza Jane Robbins: Obituary in the Marion Daily Leader: Caption: Sudden Death of Mrs. Jacob Hoover Sunday Night
Mrs. Jacob Hoover died very suddenly Sunday Night of heart disease, At the age of 65 She was around the house Sunday being in her usual good health, and was stricken only a few hours before her death. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00, at Knox Chapel.
Obituary appeared in a second Marion paper: Death of Mrs. Hoover Mrs. Jacob Hoover died Sunday at her home in the southwestern part of the county at the age of 65 years. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 at Knox Chapel. Several grown children survive her, and with a large circle of friends, mourn her loss.
Each of these obituaries, give the age of 65 as age at time of death. In other research, her birth date is listed as 1834. On her headstone in Point Isabel it reads:
Eliza J This being the case, her birth date is not 1834, but wife of Jacob October 26-27, 18 Hoover died April 4, 1898 aged 68 yrs 6 mo 9 days
LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT: I, Eliza J Hoover of this state of Indiana, County of Grant, being mindful of the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death and being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and declare this document to be my last will and testament. First it is my will that all my indebtedness be paid from my real estate. I will and bequeath to my son Eli P. Hoover the sum of One Hundred $100.00 dollars to be paid from the real estate. I will and bequeath to my grand daughter, Hannah E. Allred, daughter of George and Trafenna Allred, One fourth (1/4) of all my real estate after debts are paid. Also one fourth of all my personal property. I will and bequeath to my grand daughter Stella Hoover, daughter of Eli P. Hoover One fourth (1/4) of my real estate after Eli P. Hoover and Hannah E. Allred have received their share. She also to receive Three fourths of all my personal property. I will and bequeath to my grand son Jacob A. Hoover, son of Eli P. Hoover, One fourth of my real estate after Eli P. Hoover and Hannah E. Allred have received their share. I will and bequeath to my grand son Edmund O. Hoover, son of Eli P. Hoover, One fourth of my real estate after Eli P. Hoover and Hannah E. Allred have received their share. I will and bequeath to my grand daughter, Grace Hoover, daughter of Eli P. Hoover, one fourth of my real estate after Eli P. Hoover and Hannah E. Allred have received their shares.. I hereby nominate and appoint John Rybolt of Pt Isabel, Ind as Executor of this my last Will and Testament. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, this the 31st day of January, 1898.
Subscribed by the said, Eliza J. Hoover, in our presence, and by her declared to be her last Will and attested by us as such, in her presence, and in the presence of each other, this 31st day of January 1898.
