Notes for Jonas Hoover: Jonas and his brother Jacob were the only children of Andrew and Margaret that did not move on to Ohio at the turn of the century. There is a family story that he was beaten and left for dead during the Revolutionary War. He remained by the Unwharrie until his death. Jonas was a member of the Society of Friends. In 1786 he purchased 250 acres of land and an additional 50 acres in 1793. ___________________________________________________________________________________
