Andrew Hoover (son of Andreas Huber and Anna Margaret Catherine Pfautz)1900, 1901 was born 21 Sep 1752 in Miry Springs, Pipe Creek, MD1901, and died 29 Dec 1834 in Richmond, IN. He married Elizabeth Waymire on 1776 in North Carolina, daughter of John Rudolph Waymire.

"Andrew of Richmond" About 1772, Andrew migrated to North Carolina from Maryland with his parents and his siblings. In 1802 after marriage, he migrated to a Northwest Region, later known as Ohio, then on to Indiana in 1806. Andrew was one of the first, if not the first settler in Richmond, In. He was highly regarded in "the Society of Friends". Andrew is said to have nearly 100 descendants at his death on 12-29-1834. Andrew is reknown as the founder of Richmond, Indiana. He was a Patriot in the American Revolution.

From Hulda's book: "His son Henry, wrote: My father was a zealous man in his attachment to the Society of Friends. He rode many miles as a pilot to traveling preachers in the wilderness....He was moderate in his desire after this world's wealth. My mother was no bigot; she looked upon different sects as belonging to her Heavenly Father's great family...They have passed away and their children would do well to walk even as they walked."

Soldiers of the Revolution: Andrew Hoover, born Sept 21, 1752, on Pipe Creek, Frederick County, MD., furnished supplies for the troops and received pay. Taken from the "Accounts of the United States with NC War of Revolution, Book C, pg 117, found in custody of NC Historical Commision.
Died 12-29-1884 and is buried in "Friends Cemetery", now Star Park, Richmond, Indiana. Bronze tablet on stone at his grave: In memory of Andrew Hoover and his wife, Elizabeth Waymire hoover. Patriots of the Revolutionary War, who settled in Wayne County in 1806 and were parents of mary Hoover Newman, Elizabeth Hoover Bulla, David Hoover, who laid out and named the city of Richmond; Frederick Hoover, Susannah Hoover Wright, Henry Hoover, Rebecca Hoover Julian, Andrew Hoover, Catherine Hoover Mc Lane, Sarah Hoover Sanders. Tablet erected by descendants and dedicated by Richmond Chapter DAR. Collected by Paul Ross, Richmond, In.
