Phillip Kobel ( Cable (son of Johann Henry Kobel) was born 1710 in Palatinate, Germany, and died 29 Jan 1780 in Ephrata Cloister, Manahan Twp., York Co., PA. He married Maria Brede or Brady on 1723.

Philip Cable and his wife Maria (Brady) fled the Palatinate, County of Wittgenstein, Germany during the great persecutions following the treaties of Westphalia (1648). Arrived in America on the "Pennsylvania Merchant" on 11 Sept. 1732. Phillip and family settled in Germantown in 1732. (A section of Philadelphia, Pa). Philip and Maria on arriving at Germantown soon were attracted to the Bretheren in the Germantown Church. About 1735 or 36, Philip and Maria were attracted to Conrad Beissel and his preachings. they soon affiliated themselves with the Beissel movement and moved near Ephrata after Beissel began his work there. Philip died near York, Pennsylvania and is buried there. Hiw Will is recorded in the York Courthouse.

In the name of God Amen I Philip Cabel of Warenton township and county of York and Province of Pennsylvania being sick in body butt in perfect mind and memory I do macke this my last will and testament in manner and form following. I committ my soul into the hands of the Almighty God who gave it and my body to the earth to be buried in a defand manner at the desretion of my executors hereinafter named and theing fuch worldly estate as it has plafed God to belfs mee with I do dispose of it as follows to wit. Firts I order that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid by my executors as fon hee convenent can after my death. Secondly I give devine and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Mary Cable two mares and two cows, two hogs and all the sheep. Item and iet is my will that my wife Mary Cable is to have the bed and bedsteid and all the bed clothes and all the household furniture forever. I give and bequesth to my son Abraham Cable my clock and clock cafe and my son Abraham is to give a meal or supper to the Bretheren and congragation of Ephrata and my son Abraham is to have said clock in lieu of fourteen pounds five shillings and iet is my will that ten pounds hard money is to be paid to my children out of my state by my executor hereafter named which is to be paid to them the twelth month after my demise. That is to pay to my son Abraham Cable the sum of forty shillings. Item to my son Benjamin Cable the sum of forty shillings and a Bible and all my wearing apparel. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Barbara Beissel the sum of forty shiliings. Item I give and bequeath to my son Jacob Cable the sum of forty shillings. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Salomy Neele the sum of forty shillings. I do hereby revoke and void all former Wills and Testaments heretofore made testifying and confirming this is my last will and testament and I do hereby certify and appoint my frine Michael Miller of the township of Huntington to be my executor of this last will and testament. In wittness wereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this twenty ninth day of January 1780.
