J. Spells was the:
Daughter of the late George and Dora Spencer Boomer.
Sister of James Ivory Boomer, Rosetta Boomer Powell, and Tora Boomer Wiggins.
Mother of James A. Isler, George A. Isler Sr., Rudolph V. Isler, Cordelia Isler Hopkins, Josiah C. Isler, Ardella Curtis, and Leila Curtis Drummond Dale;
Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, and Great-Great-Great Grandmother of the majority of those assembled here today.
Rev. J.E. Spells and Sis. Malisa J. Spells started this day over forty years ago. To have all of their grandchildren together for a family celebration.
They started out having picnics and cookouts. As the family began to grow in numbers, they decided to start having a church service which was then called Grandchildren’s Day.
They saw the need of many that did not know Christ. The foundation was laid for whosoever will let them come. After the passing of Rev. Spells, Sis. Spells continued having the day. God blessed her to see many of her children and grandchildren saved.
After accepting Christ in their lives, they began to reach out to help win other family members to Christ.
After Sis. Spells passed, the torched was passed to the grandchildren.
God has blessed this family with pastors, ministers, deacons, trustees, missionaries and many others who workers for Christ. We are continuing to work hard to win others for the kingdom.
